A custom GPT trained on Aerial Wallet's brand guidelines that acts as an always-available writing partner for UI microcopy and marketing copy

Brand guidelines are only useful if people actually use them. A PDF sitting in a shared drive is a good artifact, but it’s a passive one — it can’t answer questions, it can’t push back on off-brand headlines, and it can’t help someone write a LinkedIn ad at 9pm before a deadline. For Offchain Labs and their Aerial Wallet brand, we turned the guidelines into something you can have a conversation with.

How it works

The Offchain Copy Helper is a custom GPT built on top of the brand toolkit we developed as part of the broader Project Doorway engagement. The full guidelines — tone of voice, messaging pillars, copy bank, UI writing principles, and best practices — were exported as a PDF and uploaded as the model’s knowledge base. A detailed set of instructions tells it how to behave: distinguish between UI microcopy and marketing copy, write inclusively for both crypto beginners and experts, project calm expertise rather than hype, and always tie back to the core value proposition.

The result is something that knows the brand as well as anyone on the project. Ask it whether a headline strikes the right tone and it’ll tell you why it doesn’t — and offer five alternatives that do. Ask it to help write a paid Instagram ad and it’ll ground the response in Aerial’s specific messaging angles rather than generic ad copy patterns.

The thinking behind it

The goal was never to replace human judgment — the guidelines themselves are explicit about that. AI-generated copy is a starting point, not a final product. What the tool removes is the blank page problem: the moment of friction where someone needs to write something brand-aligned and isn’t sure where to start. Having a writing partner that already knows the brand deeply changes that moment from a research task into a conversation.

We also built it to be transferable. The video walkthrough gives Offchain Labs everything they need to host their own version on their own OpenAI instance, refined with additional internal context we never had access to. The tool lives on Instrument’s instance indefinitely, but ownership and continuity belong to the client.
