This is a tool that’s been on my radar for a while — an AI-based visual usability checker that analyzes your designs and generates attention heatmaps, focus scores, and prioritized feedback. Think of it as modern eye tracking without needing to book a lab, recruit participants, or set up cameras. You upload a design, and it comes back with a score (my desktop layout got a 76%), along with a breakdown of where attention lands, what’s competing for focus, and specific recommendations for improvement.

Confirming what experience teaches you

One thing that jumped out immediately and confirmed something I’ve observed across my entire career: faces dominate attention. Every single time. If there’s a human face in your layout, that’s where eyes go first, full stop. Headlines tend to fight for second place, and everything else falls in line behind those two anchors. Why this matters in practice

The real power here is in those moments when a client or stakeholder pushes back on a layout decision and you need something more persuasive than “trust me, I’ve been doing this for years.” Being able to pull up a heatmap that shows exactly where attention is clustering — and where it’s not — turns a subjective conversation into an objective one. It doesn’t replace proper user testing, and it shouldn’t be your only validation method, but as a quick-check tool during the design process, it’s remarkably useful for catching issues early and backing up your rationale with something visual and quantifiable.
